Ill Manors Trailer Analysis

In the Ill Manors trailer the audience are provided with a lot information. It is essential to provide the audience with a lot of information as the trailer is really short. If the audience aren't satisfied they won't watch the movie. In the Ill Manors, the audience learn about the movie. They learn about the movie's name. The audience are told about the main characters in the movie and about the real names. They are also told about the directors name. This is important. This is because if the audience know about the directors previous work they are more likely to go and watch the movie. The typical codes and conventions used are Pop ups, Voice overs, Edits, Enigma codes, directors and characters are named and release dates.

Trailers are distributed by the company that has helped fund the movie so in this case, we see Revolver Entertainment distribute the trailers. For example, a Hollywood film would have more exposure in terms of the plot and the characters in the film which therefore would be exposed through the distributor.

Ill Manors uses the typical conventions of film trailers in certain ways. Firstly, the trailer for Ill Manors has a voice over introduces enigma codes in terms of the story-line of Ill Manors.

The audience for the movie is teenagers from 18 to 35. This is because the movie includes a lot of inappropriate language and sexual activities. This is because, the film contains a lot of violence, males, sexual content and taking drugs,  which would appeal more to a male audience rather than females. Also, from watching the trailer according to the psycho graphic group I think it would associated with struggler. This is simply because, struggler's seek escape and the trailer clearly shows adults who have been brought up from deprived areas or haven't had a good childhood which has had a impact on them growing up, perhaps lead them to do drugs.
The audience are told about the release date of the movie. This is essential as the audience need to know when is the movie available for the to watch. There is voice-over used in the trailer. This is because the audience need to know what Plan B is telling the audience.

The colours and lighting both also help represent the genre as, they use a lot of dark colours and not many bright lights but they've put a lot of the bright shots in black and white to give it that dull, negative look which again represents the crime drama genre. Finally, the characters themselves all wear a lot of dark colours to blend it and not be so noticeable, the film has a lot of black people fighting and selling drugs which is a dominant representation on how black people are portrayed in the media nowadays but also represents the genre of crime drama.
