Types of promotion (Ill Manors Case Study)

In the Ill Manors poster, we see that it is clear what genre it would come under, this is highlighted through the council estates in the background, we also see the gun Riz Ahmed is holding, this is also an action code as it could develop the narrative as the movie progresses, this also makes the genre again clear as we can tell that the movie will also have aspects of action in it. The yellow title engages the audiences attention as we notice the contrast between the title being bright and the background being so dull. The dark council estate foreshadows, how something bad might happen there, it also makes us question what will happen in the estate. It also connotes how people look down at people living in estates, so again that stereotype of how everyone from an estate is unmoral and a criminal. The main difference between this and the other ill manor movie posters is that shows the estate and shows how people look down at the estate rather then the other movie posters we see where Riz Ahmed vomiting on the title. It shows how the estate is making him sick and making him do bad things.

Another comparison is between Plan B in the NME magazine and the website. In both Plan B is shown with other characters, we see on both how Plan B is not the main image. This is effective as we see how Plan B is just the background actor, he's not significant in any way, he's just another guy in the estate but there's so many other stories that we learn about when we watch the movie. Which also show that Plan B is not the main image. In both we also see Plan B hooded up which could also show him as a 'Hoodrat' but this 'Hoodrat' made something of himself and is criticising how other people look at people from the estate. A difference between the two is that we see no genre presented in the NME magazine, we just see Plan B smoking a cigarette looking like an outlaw, we also see how Plan B looks aggressive which could represent his anger at society. On the website we see Plan B on a wall surrounded by graffiti, which again shows him as an outlaw but he's not the main man in this plot.

Also we see how the Album Cover and The website is similar in a way, we see how the word 'ILL' is shown on the front of a wall, like graffiti but Plan B is covering Manors, this could connote how he has lost his 'Manors' and lost belief in moral things. We also see Plan B just on the wall in both, but in both we see the setting of estates, this could make the audience question how will setting be presented in the movie and in the album. The difference between both is that on the website we see other characters too, these characters are more focused on and we do not really see Plan B, he is just a background character while on the other hand on the album cover, Plan B is the protagonist, he is shown as the main character, We know by this that Plan B will be the main guy in the album.
