'The Dark Knight' is a 2008 action - thriller movie; which is a sequel to the film 'Batman Begins'. Where the Batman fights the Joker throughout the movie.

The movie poster uses a low angle shot and also Low key lighting which connotes  the protagonists body to stand out and inspire fear;  the dark background connotes the idea of fear. It has also be done to add height to the protagonist.The audience is psychologically dominated by the figure on the poster. The light behind the protagonist not only shows a contrast between the actors two personality's but it also shows that the audience can have hope with the hero.  

The Back Lighting is used in the poster which makes the light from behind the actor to stand out which creates a silhouette. The scenery behind the actor connotes destruction and not only does the blue/grey background create a fearful effect the light is focused on the actor.It also shows the dominant character of the protagonist. Even with the dark background the character still stands out with his black costume. Which is helped by the light behind him
